Group Lead for Windchill Development
Description –
Leads a team of 4–6 software engineers in all phases of product development. Develops, writes and implements software programming applications.
Provides project management and technical support to team members. Typically requires 4-6 years of experience in software development field or related discipline. Follows disciplined software development practices. Up-to-date on current and best practices related to software development and project management. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the software development concepts, practices, and procedures. Solid knowledge of domain and customer practices. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish individual and team goals. Utilizes project management skills to meet project timetables and deliverables. Skillfully relates to other groups outside the department such as Marketing, Global Services and Management. Typically reports to a Manager or Director.
Project Management –

Clarify requirements with technical marketing
Defining project deliverables and establishing work assignments (work breakdown structures)
Task definition and estimation
Resource planning, forecasting, monitoring and adjustments
Timeline preparation, coordination and monitoring task assignment status for the team
Identify, track and manage dependencies – within group and between other R&D groups (QA, Publications, Integration, Localization, etc.)
Feature Development –
Develops, writes and implements software programming applications
Schedule, conduct and participate in design reviews
Prepare work estimates for assigned tasks
Provide ongoing feedback on deliverables
Write well documented & performing code including source code documentation that meets organizational standards
Solicit code reviews for your work. Participate in code reviews of others’ work
Respond to requests for information in a timely manner
Technical Skills –
Required: Java programming & Object Oriented design, Java Servlet, JSP and JavaScript, UML, XML, SQL
Desired: Web application infrastructure & design, J2EE, Code re-factoring, Performance profiling & analysis, familiarity with unit tests (JUnit or similar regression test technology)
Plus: Rational Rose, Clearcase, Subversion, or other Software Configuration Management system, Rational ClearQuest or other defect tracking system.
Team Building –
Mentor new employees
Technically guides colleagues on design and implementation techniques
Helps colleagues decompose complex problems into a set of simpler ones and help evaluate design alternatives
